Togetic

Togetic, The Happiness Pokémon. It is said to be a Pokémon that brings good fortune. When it spots someone who is pure of heart, it appears and shares its happiness with that person. It grows dispirited if it is not with kind people. It can float in midair without moving its wings. They say that it will appear before kindhearted, caring people and shower them with happiness.

Battle Moveset

A Good Moveset for Togetic would have to be this:

Attacks:

Seismic Toss
Softboiled
Counter
Thunder Wave

Items Attached:

Leftovers

Preferred Nature:

Calm or Bold

Preferred Trait:

Serene Grace

Strategy Using Togetic

Pretty much the best Togetic set available. Togetic's defensive stats are reasonable and it's move pool is fairly versatile, over all it makes for a fairly good UU. With Softboiled it can stall fairly decently, with Counter it can fend off physical attackers and with Thunder Wave it can cripple sweepers. Seismic Toss does consistent damage to all opponents and is suitable for Togetic who lacks the stats to do much damage, especially without the support of EVs. Over all Togetic fills the role of a sponge, it's capable of taking hits from both physical and special attackers and has Thunder Wave to provide utility for it's team-mates.

EV Corner:

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)

Balanced defensive stats, best suited for Togetic when it's going to sponge both forms of attackers but is best grouped with primary walls for Special and Physical since it shouldn't be used as a primary wall for both.

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)

Heavily defensive set and also gets the best benefit from Counter.

EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)

300 Special Defence is plenty enough combined with Softboiled to make Togetic a good Special Sponge, the rest of the EVs can be thrown into Defence to get the best benefit from Counter.

Other Optional Sets

Togetic @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Reflect / Counter
- Light Screen
- Wish

Functions similarly to the set stated above, in this case it's a much larger utility to it's team though. Wish gives some healing support to it's team-mates and Reflect and Light Screen give defensive support to the entire team. Reflect can be dropped for Counter to give it the ability to fend off physical attackers but Wish is slower to heal than Softboiled and may not arrive in time after taking a hit, it's best to use Wish before using Counter however your opponent may anticipate this and not bother to attack until the Wish has gone by.

Togetic @ Leftovers / Liechi / Salac / Petaya Berry
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Seismic Toss
- Baton Pass
- Ancientpower / Psych Up / Substitute
- Wish / Softboiled

Baton-Passer Togetic. Togetic has no direct stat-boost moves so it can either rely on a 20% chance for an all-round stat boost from Ancient Power or copy and opponent's stats with Psych Up or Substitute down to activate a Berry (or just pass a Substitute). Either way it's passing options are limited, one is chance based, one relies on your opponent and the other is a generic Substitute.

Togetic @ Choice Band
Trait: Hustle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aerial Ace
- Double-Edge / Return
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Punch / Steel Wing / Ancient Power

Choice-Band Togetic. The only thing making this set somewhat viable is Hustle, it gives a 1.5x boost to physical attackers but lowers the accuracy by 20%, whilst it works reasonably well with Aerial Ace all the other moves may or may not miss. With Choice Band the power of Togetic makes it able to make a substantial surprise when attacking an unaware opponent, especially when you factor in the power of Double-Edge or Focus Punch, however you always have to factor in the 20% accuracy drop spoiling your surprise.

Togetic @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Follow Me
- Softboiled
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss

Follow Me set for 2v2. Togetic is one of the best suited Pokémon for the role of Follow Me in 2v2 teams, the move forces all of the opponent's attacks to aim at Togetic and since it's immune to Ghost and Ground attacks (as well as resistant to Bug and Grass attacks) there's a possibility that it could draw attacks that it can shrug off easily.

Other Optional Moves

Encore, Charm, Safeguard, Psychic, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Yawn, Mirror Move.

Encore is probably the best move here, able to force an opponent to repeat the same move over and over. Togetic's Speed stat unfortunately means it'll usually go last so prediction needs to be used prior to using Encore to avoid Encoring an unfavourable move. Charm can make life difficult for physical sweepers but it has Reflect anyway. Safeguard blocks status attacks. Psychic, Flamethrower and Fire Blast do reasonably with Togetic's decent Special Attack stat and benefit from Serene Grace. Yawn can be a good move to PHaze or possibly get a sleep status. Mirror Move counters the opponent with whatever move they used, there are times when this move is effective but for the most part it's useless.

Strategy Against Togetic

It's offence is rather weak usually, Hustle and Choice Band is the main exception to this rule. It's weakness to Rock Attacks is it's easiest flaw to take advantage of however be aware that it may carry Counter. Ice and Electric attacks are also super-effective however it's Special Defence is above average so it may be able to survive it fairly easily with Softboiled. Since it's offence is usually weak it's fairly easy to stat-boost against it, however it can carry Thunder Wave which causes problems for sweepers. If you have Guts, Substitute or an immunity to Thunder Wave this doesn't present a problem, however it can possibly carry Yawn as well which causes a similar problem (with similar solutions to handle it).

Contest Moveset

A good Contest Moveset for Togetic would have to be this for the Cute Contest best with Timid, Hasty, Jolly or Naive Nature:
