Absol

Absol, The Disaster Pokémon. Every time Absol appears before people, it is followed by a disaster such as an earthquake or a tidal wave. As a result, it came to be known as the disaster Pokémon. It has the ability to foretell the coming of natural disasters. It lives in a harsh, rugged mountain environment. It very rarely ventures down from the mountains. It sharply senses even subtle changes in the sky and the land to predict natural disasters. It is a long-lived Pokémon that has a life-span of 100 years.

Battle Moveset

A Good Moveset for Absol would have to be this:

Attacks:

Return
Taunt
Sword Dance
Baton Pass

Items Attached:

Leftovers
Salac Berry

Preferred Nature:

Jolly

Strategy Using Absol

Baton Passer set-up and the most efficient way to use Absol. Boost up with Sword Dance and pass it to a physical attacker, with Taunt any attempt to Haze of PHaze will be halted. To get a set-up you're best bet is to switch into a weak Wall, a Pokémon like Blissey won't be able to do much damage and will allow time to build up Sword Dance. It can't take many hits though so you'll 'need' to avoid hard hitting walls like Snorlax and Blissey, even Skarmory's Drill Peck and Weezing's Sludge Bomb will leave a rather big dent.

EV Corner:

EVs: 196 HP / 60 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

Probably the most useful spread for Absol. You need as much Speed as you can get and the rest needs to be focused at defence.

Other Optional Sets

Absol @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 196 HP / 252 Spd / 60 SDef
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Dark] / Bite
- Thunderbolt / Taunt
- Calm Mind
- Baton Pass

Special variation of the Baton Passer. Thunderbolt with Calm Mind can garner a 2-3KO against Skarmory and do fair damage to Suicune (both of which are common Baton Passers), or you could use Taunt like the aforementioned set. Bite/HP Dark is just filler offence.

Absol @ Salac Berry
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Return
- Shadow Ball
- Swords Dance
- Substitute

Physical sweeper set up, taking advantage of it's massive Attack stat. Better suited to UU than OU, this set will have major problems with Rock and Steel types however so it needs some support.

Strategy Against Absol

Surprise Haze attacks will always catch a Baton Passer off guard. Absol has pathetic HP and Defences so it can't take many hits and it has mediocre speed. For the most part any well placed Pokémon can handle it, Absol relies more on the skill of player using it than pure stats and move set, a smart player will be able to avoid getting it placed up against Pokémon it can't handle. Paralysis will halt it completely however with Taunt that problem can be overcome somewhat.

Contest Moveset

A good Contest Moveset for Absol would have to be this for the Cool Contest best with Lonely, Adament, Naughty or Brave Nature:

Attacks:

Swords Dance
Rock smash
Aerial Ace
Hyper Beam

Items Attached:

Red Scarf

Strategy Using Absol

If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Aerial Ace, 2nd - Swords Dance, 3rd - Rock smash, 4th - Swords Dance/Aerial ace, 5th - Rock smash/Hyper beam
