To access the tutorial go into the Item Bag and Select the Communication Box
Select The Tutorial
This Starts a report led by an older character that the character knows and he will show and explain how to do these things

He Will Teach you how to battle and how to pick the Pokémon in battle and many other hints:

There is another Help System in the game which will help you if you get stuck. To activate it press the L button.
