Groudon, the ancient land titan, was awakened from its slumber at the Seafloor Cavern by Team Magma. Using the Red Orb, Maxie began controlling Groudon to cause drought and earthquakes in Hoenn. Roxanne, Brawley and Wallace attempted to stop it, but their efforts were thwarted by the FireHeads Trio. Eventually, Groudon clashed with Kyogre at Sootopolis City, and their battle threatened to destroy the entire Hoenn region. Finally, Norman brought Rayquaza to the Sootopolis, and worked with Ruby to calm the titans it the help of the ancient Orbs. Groudon then departed and resumed its slumber at Mt. Chimney.
