The main part of Pokémon Art Academy is the lessons. In the story, you are accepted into the Pokémon Art Academy in order to train to become an artist of Pokémon Cards.

The head of the school, Andy will take you through the various lessons, teaching you how to do each drawing step by step. In each lesson, there are also between 1 and 3 different mini-lessons. These mini-lessons will have you utilise the skills of the overall lesson. When you complete each lesson, you will also unlock the template within Free Pain mode.

The first lessons are the Starter Exercises. There are three of these and you have to select one in order to proceed to the Novice stage. This stage is very simple and you are walked through each bit very simply.
