Like all previous Super Smash Bros. games, Super Smash Bros for 3DS & Wii U have a variety of stages to play on. These stages are all derived from games on Nintendo's portable consoles

New Stages


Stage: Battlefield

Game Series: Super Smash Bros
Based upon: Super Smash Bros. Melee (2001)

This is a relatively simple stage with several platforms, but the background and lighting change with various times of day
Boxing Ring

Stage: ??

Game Series: Punch-Out
Based upon: Punch-Out (1986)

This stage is a simple boxing ring for players to fight within. It has borders on the sides and a TV which follows the action in the background. In this stage, you have the ability to jump upon the ring's barrier and use it to propel yourself upwards. Sometimes it is decorated with the Super Smash Bros symbol, but other times it has the W.V.B.A. design.
3D Land

Stage: 3D Land

Game Series: Super Mario
Based upon: Super Mario 3D Land (2011)

This stage is a stage based on the 2D Super Mario platformers and has you fight in a simple stage with multiple obstacles as you pass through. The level is constantly scroling and features many obstacles including platforms that fall down when you stand on them, and platforms that get destroyed by spike pillars. The stage will cycle through these points until it starts over

Gerudo Valley

Stage: Gerudo Valley

Game Series: The Legend of Zelda
Based upon: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (2011)

This stage is a stage based on a stylised version of Gerudo Valley. It has a Bridge in the middlewith several platforms either side. The bridge in the middle will occasionally collapse. In addition to this, the two witches, Kotake and Koume who will start unleashing havoc upon the level with fire and ice attacks which will damage you

Spirit Train

Stage: Spirit Train

Game Series: The Legend of Zelda
Based upon: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (2009)

This stage is a stage based on the trainin in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. You can battle all along the various parts of the train, and can even knock opponents onto the rails so they either get left behind, or hit by the train. The Dark Train, aswell as Lineback's Carriage, can occassionally be seen along the tracks and battled upon. If Link or Toon Link is one of the characters chosen, then Link's place on the train is replaced by Alonzo

Arena Ferox

Stage: Arena Ferox

Game Series: Fire Emblem
Based upon: Fire Emblem Awakening (2012)

This stage is a simple stage with several platforms hanging from above. It's set in a colosseum and features people watching in the background It has varying appearances that include platforms, statues that hold platforms and moving platforms which change as the battle continues
Living Room

Stage: Living Room (Toy Room in Europe)

Game Series: Nintendogs
Based upon: Nintendogs + Cats (2011)

This stage is a simple stage which is set on various blocks in a toy room with multiple dogs playing in the background. There are various obstacles including shoes and toy blocks that can be used as platforms
Reset Bomb Forest

Stage: Reset Bomb Forest

Game Series: Kid Icarus
Based upon: Kid Icarus: Uprising (2012)

This stage is a scrolling stage that has you play through various platforms while fighting. As you approach the end, a "Reset Bomb" will explode, causing damage and changing the stage to be filled with rubble and enemies, before reverting to normal.
Tortimer's Island

Stage: Tortimer's Island

Game Series: Animal Crossing
Based upon: Animal Crossing: New Leaf(2012)

This stage is based upon the tropical island from Animal Crossing New Leaf. However, in Smash Bros, it has a twist. Each time you load the stage, the layout is different
Rainbow Road

Stage: Rainbow Road

Game Series: Mario Kart
Based upon: Mario Kart 7 (2011)

This stage has the fight move across the Rainbow Road level, occassionally stopping on the course. When stopped, various Shy Guy racers may pass through, and will damage anyone they hit. The various places the stage stops contain different shaped platforms
Tomodachi Life

Stage: Tomodachi Life

Game Series: Tomodachi Life
Based upon: Tomodachi Life(2013)

This stage takes place inside an apartment building akin to that in the series Tomodachi Life. As such, it is fought on multiple levels with the rooms only being visible if a fighter is on it. The Miis that appear in each of the rooms are based upon the Miis on your 3DS system
Find Mii

Stage: Find Mii (Streetpass Quest in Europe)

Game Series: StreetPass Quest
Based upon: StreetPass Quest (2011)

This stage is based upon the special 3DS software, StreetPass Quest, or Find Mii. On this stage, it takes place on top of a castle and features a big boss who will occasionally ravage the course.
Prism Tower

Stage: Prism Tower

Game Series: Pokémon
Based upon: Pokémon X & Pokémon Y (2013)

This stage is based upon the Prism Tower in Lumiose City from Pokémon X & Y. This stage starts off at the bottom of the tower and has you battle on moving platforms that climb the tower gradually. As the tower is scaled, the day slowly changes into night
Balloon Fight

Stage: Balloon Fight

Game Series: Balloon Fight
Based upon: Balloon Fight (1985)

This stage is a classic retro stage. At the bottom there is a bit of water which has creatures attack you if you get near. It has flippers dotted around the stage that will throw you backwards. A unique feature of this stage is that you can walk through the various sides of the stage, going right to left by going right, and so forth
Golden Plains

Stage: Golden Plains

Game Series: Mario
Based upon: New Super Mario Bros. 2 (2012)

This stage is a unique stage. It's a scrolling stage that looks like a standard Mario stage, but there's a special feature to it. Dotted around the stage are various coins and, if you collect 100 of them, your character will temporariliy become gold plated. They will do more damage and won't flinch when getting hit

Stage: Pac-man

Game Series: Pac-man
Based upon: Pac-man (1980)

This stage is a unique stage and is based upon the classic Pac-man arcade game. This stage has numerous ghosts flying around the stage, and various platforms. If you get a Power Pellet, thern you will be able to destroy the ghosts
Dr. Wily's Lair

Stage: Dr. Wily's Lair

Game Series: MegaMan
Based upon: MegaMan 2 (1988)

This stage is a simple stage set upon a standard stage, with several floating platforms around the side. Occasionally, the Yellow Devil will come into the stage, and will move across it in pieces
Unova Pokémon League

Stage: Unova Pokémon League

Game Series: Pokémon
Based upon: Pokémon Black & White (2010)

This stage is a stage based upon N's Castle and the Unova Pokémon League from Pokémon Black & White. While playing on this stage, various Pokémon such as Reshiram, Zekrom and Milotic will appear and attack. As you fight, the castle will grow out of the background and will cause the stage to rock and slant.

Game Series: Paper Mario
Based upon: Paper Mario: Sticker Star (2013)

This stage is a stage based upon the various Paper Mario games. As the stage progresses, it changes locale from a windswept location where winds can blow characters around to the SS Flavion, a ship under attack by a blooper

Returning Stages

Jungle Japes

Stage: Jungle Japes

Game Series: Donkey Kong Country
Based upon: Donkey Kong Country (1994)

This stage makes a return from Super Smash Bros. Melee. This stage has you fight on various platforms on top of a rushing river. These platforms are stationary, but if you fall into the river, you will be swept off to the left of the stage with little chance of recovery.
Green Hill Zone

Stage: Green Hill Zone

Game Series: Sonic the Hedgehog
Based upon: Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)

This stage makes a return from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This stage has you fighting on a bit of a stage that has part of a loop on for you to dip into with a bridge to the left and more stage to the right. You can only do knock outs off of the left, right and upwards so you have to battle accordingly
