Poké Ball Plus

Poké Ball Plus Connectivity

The Poké Ball Plus was first released for Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! & Let's Go, Eevee! and is compatible with Pokémon Sword & Shield. While it can't be used as a controller like it could for the previous game, it keeps its functionality with Pokémon GO and allows for you to take Pokémon for a stroll, this time Pokémon from the Galar Pokédex

When you have a Pokémon in the PokéBall Plus, you'll be able to hear it through the speaker and interact with it slightly through motion of the device by holding down the stick for two seconds. To mute it, press the control stick and top button simultaneously, and do it again to unmute.

There's a support mode accessed by holding both buttons down for 5 seconds which can then be exited by pressing the stick down. It has three elements which you can cycle through with the top button.

  • Battery mode. The light on the Poké Ball Plus will show battery remaining. Red indicates battery is less than 30%. Yellow indicates the battery is between 30% & 70% while Green indicates it's above 70%
  • Pair Reset - When the light is blue, if you hold both buttons down again for over 5 seconds and it'll unpair with all devices it has been paired with
  • Data deletion - When the light is white, if you hold both buttons down for 5 seconds, it will wipe all data currently on the Poké Ball Plus including the details of the Pokémon you're strolling with. Do note, this doesn't delete the Pokémon from your Let's Go save file.

We'll post full results for going for a stroll with your Pokémon when the game is released.

Mew Distribution

Much like its predecessor, when you purchase a new Poké Ball Plus, internally it contains a Mew and, like Let's Go, Pikachu! & Let's Go, Eevee!, you have the ability to receive the Mew and add it to your Pokémon Sword & Shield game. To retrieve the Mew, you require an Internet connection but do not need a Nintendo Online subscription.

Going For A Stroll

With the Poké Ball Plus, you have the capability to put a Pokémon from your storage in Pokémon Sword & Shield into the Poké Ball Plus. This does not remove the specific Pokémon from the game. To do this, go to Mystery Gift and there will be an option to Take Your Pokémon for a Stroll. If you have received the Mew from the Poké Ball Plus, you can put a Pokémon into the Poké Ball Plus. You can do this for multiple Poké Ball Plus devices at any one time..

When in the Poké Ball Plus, the Pokémon can be played with by pushing down the control stick for two seconds. There, it goes into a play mode where, if you shake the device gently or rotate the control stick, you can play with the Pokémon with varying results which net you bonuses. These bonuses are exclusive to Pokémon Let's Go. The Pokémon will also sometimes call out to you which requires you to press the top button to respond.

If the Poké Ball Plus is connected to Pokémon GO while a Pokémon is in it, the Pokémon will receive special bonuses as well. The more you succeed in catching Pokémon and do other things such as spin-stops, the more bonuses you get.

When you receive your Pokémon back from the stroll, based on what it did during it, you will get a variety of item rewards. These rewards are determined by points you gain for the walk. These points are accued by doing the tasks

Unlike Pokémon Let's Go, you don't gain Experience
