Join Avenue is a new feature which monopolises on the communication aspects of Pokémon Black 2 & White 2. This feature starts off as an empty pathway, but as you connect with people over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, local Wireless, through the C-Gear and over InfraRed, people will start to come to the avenue to open up shops. This is done automatically whenever you connect with someone. This connection is done through PassBy on the C-Gear, InfraRed, Wireless Union Room, WiFi Connection, GTS, GTS Negotiations, Random Matchup and Dream World across all Black, White, Black 2 & White 2 games. In addition to that, after you have beaten the Elite Four, various fans will come and visit, wanting to make shops or shop in general. (Click here for details)

These shops only get added after talking to the other player's avatar, who will inform you that they are looking to open a shop. Notify them that they can, and it will open up. There are several types of shop that can be opened up including those focusing on supplies, some on powering up your Pokémon and more. The shop that the player makes is dependant on a random number generated by their Trainer ID and the items they sell depend upon the game upon which they connected with you. There are eight possible slots for shops and you can have several of each type

In addition to that, as your store gets more popular, various characters including Gym Leaders start to appear.

The main factor with Join Avenue is that the stores all level up. In order to do this, you will need to guide people to the stores they want. When you chat to them, they'll mention their desires and so you need to point them to the right store. If you do point them to the correct shop, then the popularity points of the area will increase and, every 10th person shown to the shop, the shop will rank up. As shops rank up, their merchandise increases until it hits Rank 10. In addition to that, as you increase the rank of the shop, the areas will give discounts of 1% for every rank up you get. This goes up to a 40% discount. You'll also receive a 50% discount for a week when you make all eight stores reach Rank 10. This can be repeated by replacing one store and getting it up to that rank

When you aid a character in visiting a specific store, you will gain popularity points which aid in ranking up the shopping centre and making it even more popular. Standard characters provide from 100 to 200 points while if you have a special character, such as Gym Leaders, come in and you help them, your popularity goes up by 1,000. If you help a fan rather than another player, they will give 75% of the normal popularity points.

There are other statements that players will state for where to go. These statements are based upon the people who own the shop, like asking for those who can keep secrets and so forth, based on their trainer data.

When the people appear, if you have passed by them or they have visited your Dream World several times, you'll be able to get some history about them including what they have done in games lately.

On the odd occasion, when you consult with the people who come to the Join Avenue, they will say how much of a fan they are of yours and will offer you a special item as a Souvenir. The type of item will vary based upon how popular your Avenue is, and what rank it is.

As you rank up the avenue, you can get various assistants to aid you in the organisation and running of the Join Avenue. You can have four at any one time, getting more as you rank up your Avenue, and have the ability to change their roles at will. The roles they have are as follows

Assistant 1 - Registration: Allows you to change the avenue's name, change your title, your phrase and allow you to go through and greet everyone.
Assistant 2 - Shops: They will tell you which stores would be best to open up within the avenue
Assistant 3 - Organisation: This secretary will allow you to move Pokémon in your boxes, check everybody you've passed's records, change the roles of the secretaries, change the ceiling colour and reorganise the stores
Assistant 4 - Healing: This secretary will heal your Pokémon

In addition to this, you'll earn the right to recruit your fans in the avenue to become your assistants.

The shops within the area do not sell the same goods as the standard PokéMarkets across Unova. Instead, they sell specialised items that have rare effects. These include ones that increase Egg hatching speed, increase happiness, increase Effort Values and more. In addition to that, you can also purchase a variety of berries. You can only purchase one of each item every 24 hours. In addition to that, the contents of the store vary depending upon the game from which the person came including Black & White in addition to Black 2 & White 2 and the merchandise change as they rank up

As you get more shops in Join Avenue, the area will get busier meaning that the shops will start selling an increase of items so be sure to communicate with as many as possible.

There are numerous categories of shop

• Raffle Shop - Provides a possibility to win items such as a Master Ball
• Beauty Salon - Sells services that increase the Happiness of your Pokémon
• Dojo - Increases the level and stats of your Pokémon
• Market - Sells sets of various items such as MooMoo Milk, Potions etc.
• Florist - Sells sets of various Berries
• Antique Shop - Sells a random selection of items including PokéBalls, Evolution Stones etc.
• Café - Sells selection of food which increase Pokémon's stats and level
• Nursery - Sells items that aid in the hatching of Eggs
