Sandshrew, The Mouse Pokémon. It burrows in locations far from water, it emerges only to hunt for food. It's body is dry. When it gets cold, it is said to become coated with a fine dew. If falling from a great height, it can curl into a ball and bounce to save itself. It prefers dry, sandy places so it can use sand to protect itself. It's body is configured to absorb water without waste. It's hide is very tough.

Strategy Using Sandshrew
With Sandshrew, the best thing you could possibly do it take advantage of Sand veil.
With bright powder and Sandstorm, it should have a greater chance of avoiding attacks.
Toxic will work well with this moveset, which will allow it to deal damage slowly and gradually, hopefully, avoiding some attacks during the process.
Sub will allow to draw out the battle longer, and since Toxic does this gradual damage: 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1/1. If you're lucky, it may last this long and knock out a Pokemon.
Put in earthquake just in case this is your last Pokemon, plus it will take out a few of the steel types that Toxic won't affect, plus it gains STAB bonus.
Watch out for special moves, those would certainly beat Sandshrew due to its poor special defense. Sandshrew, a Pokemon with low stats but could provide to be a useful member of a UU team.

Max out the EVs in Defense & HP for Sandshrew with any remaining in Attack
Strategy Against Sandshrew
Sandshrew's Physical Defense is above Average but it's Special Defense is very low so attack with Special Attacks and Water/Grass attacks to topple it.
