Poliwrath

Poliwrath, The Tadpole Pokémon. An adept swimmer, it knows the front crawl, butterfly, and more. It is faster than the best human swimmers. It can go far and fast with minimal breathing. This strong and skilled swimmer is even capable of crossing the Pacific Ocean just by kicking. It can use its well-developed arms and legs to run on the surface of the water for a split second.

Battle Moveset

A Good Moveset for Poliwrath would have to be this:

Attacks:

Swords Dance
Brick Break
Earthquake
Hidden Power Rock OR Return

Items Attached:

Salac Berry

Preferred Nature:

Adamant

Strategy Using Poliwrath

Poliwrath has always been a favourite of mine, especially with the moves it can learn and with the aid of the move tutors, it can be very helpful.
This pokemon was designed as a physical sweeper, with attack boosting moves such as Belly drum and Swords dance at its disposal, along with many physical attacks too.
A Belly drum + rest combination has its limits though, limiting to two offensive moves and the requirement of the hold item to be a chesto berry might not be ideal, hence the reason why Swords dance has been included.
Since Swords dance allows for an extra move, HP rock is a good move to include, since it is weak to flying types. If you don't have HP rock, Body slam or return could be used to replace HP rock.
Brick break gets a nice boost from STAB and with the boost in attack from swords dance, this move is going to pack a punch to many pokemon, like steel, rock, ice and dark types.
Earthquake is just a powerful move which will deal a whole lot of damage to most opponent's (except for those pokemon with levitate or are flying types.)

EV Corner:

Max out the EVs in Speed for Poliwrath with any remaining in Special Defense & Attack

Strategy Against Poliwrath

Poliwrath' Defenses are above average and both almost equal so an Electric or Psychic Volley should work wonders

Contest Moveset

A good Contest Moveset for Poliwrath would have to be this for the Tough Contest best with Impish, Lax, Relaxed or Bold Nature:

Attacks:

Swords Dance
Rock Smash
Body Slam
Earthquake

Items Attached:

Yellow Scarf

Strategy Using Poliwrath

If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Swords dance, 2nd - Rock smash, 3rd - Swords dance, 4th - Rock smash, 5th - Body Slam/Earthquake

Poliwrath has had a few Animé Appearences. First a trainer used one in a battle against Ash's Charizard. After that one was used in a Fishing Contest to capture Seaking. After that Chuck had one and used it in his Gym Match against Ash and after that, a trainer that Misty challenged had one. The Rest are Cameos
