Mt. Silver is closer now than it was ever, but before the gang goes further, everyone settles for lunch. Larvitar is enjoying his meal when Misty asks if he likes it. Larvitar gets a scared look before Ash tells Misty that it's probably just no use. Soon something comes from the bushes nearby, and a Elekid pops out! Ash checks it out with his PokeDex before Elekid walks over to Larvitar. Elekid snatches the food that Larvitar was eating and eats it himself. Pikachu wants to get back a Elekid and both Pokemon start to build up an electric charge. Ash tries to stop them both, but he gets caught in their electrical discharge.

Elekid doesn't care over what he did and goes over to Larvitar, trying to be all buddy-buddy. But after a while, they get captured in a net! It's none other than Team Rocket in their balloon, taking the chance to get the Pokemon. Ash sends out Bayleef to try to release them. Bayleef throws a few Razor Leaves at the netting, but the leaves deflect right off! Jesse laughs saying they used a special steel wire for netting. The Rockets soon fly off with their catch.

Ash sulks for a while before something else comes from the bushes. A Meganium pops its head out. The gang notices it and Ash sees what it is on his Dex. The Meganium walks over towards Bayleef having a little chat. Soon Casey comes out from the bushes following the Meganium. Casey sees that the gang is there and says the "long time no see." Ash is surprised to see Casey's Bayleef evolved over the time. Casey also notices that Ash's Chikorita evolved into a Bayleef, though Casey's a little snobby about that Ash still has a Bayleef. Casey asks if they seen a Elekid around here, because she's going to catch it. Ash says he did, but the Rockets took it. Casey hangs her head in disappointment, but says that they should go find them.

Up in their balloon, the Rockets bask in their glory as they check out the two Pokemon. James talks to Elekid, which Elekid soon builds up a shock and creates a hole in the balloon's basket. The Pokemon soon fall down. Jesse yells at James for ticking the Elekid off and making them lose the Pokemon.

The two land without harm on the grass. Larvitar's a little nervous being out, but Elekid gladly takes him around. During their walk, Larvitar gets hungry (after all, he couldn't eat his lunch) but the Elekid say's he'll get him some food. They come up to an apple tree and the Elekid winds up his arms and soon releases two jolts to cut two apples from the tree. He picks the apples and hands one to Larvitar. Larvitar almost bites into it when Elekid interrupts him. He says Larvitar isn't eating it right, so he shows Larvitar that he has to take big bites. Larvitar nods and soon makes a huge bite in the apple. Elekid puts his arm around Larvitar showing his friendship.

Meanwhile, the Rockets look around with their binoculars for the two Pokemon. They spot them and head off. As for the two Pokemon, they needlessly get caught in Team Rocket's traps, this time the Rocket's let the Pokemon hang in the net. Elekid tries a electric shock, but the net is unaffected. Meowth soon fantasizes about what Giovanni can do with these Pokemon and how happy he'll be with them around.

In the distance, the gang sees the Rockets and runs up to them. The Rockets see them coming, but laugh thinking they can get them again. Casey tells Meganium to use Razor Leaf on the rope that's keeping the net attached to the basket. Jesse goes all worried, thinking they also had that rope use the steel. The Pokemon fall down, but the gang cant' rest easy yet. Brock sends out Forretress and the Pokemon rips a hole in the Rocket's balloon, sending them flying.

The Rockets make a landing, James in particular right on top of a familiar salesman. The salesman yells at James but recognizes him and tries to make another scam. James doesn't buy it this time. He wants to get back for the Magikarp that proved a disaster instead of a huge profit. But this time the salesman offers him another deal. He trades a Weepinbell for one of their Pokemon. It's an offer they can't refuse. The Rockets think about this for a moment of who they're going to pawn off for his Pokemon. Jesse and James point to Meowth, but that's an obvious no. Jesse says Weezing, but James can't let that go, they need it for escaping. James suggest Wobbuffet, but Wobbuffet can use Counter. James says Arbok, but Jesse gives James a big smack, she has every reason not to give it up. Jesse finally goes down to the last Pokemon, Victreebel. James can't give that one up, but what use is it anyway? All it does it tries to eat James. James says despite that, Victreebel and him had some good memories together.

Meanwhile, the gang reaches the site where the two Pokemon should've landed, but the net was close to a cliff and they fell down! As for the Pokemon, they seem to be just fine. In fact, Elekid walks off, dragging (not littereally) Larvitar behind him.

Finally James accepts the deal. Everyone but him seems to be happy making the trade. After the trade is done, Jesse takes their Pokeball while the salesman packs up and runs away. James can't see his Pokemon go just yet, but it's too late, the salesman is long gone. They check out the Weepinbell and Jesse is pretty much amazed on how it looks. James on the other hand can't seem to see this as a replacement, but he's getting over it. Finally, they put the Weepinbell to work. Jesse tells James to make it use something that'll attract them and James tells the Weepinbell to use Lovely Scent. A cloud of aromatic scent soon flows around, and Jesse and Meowth fan it to help spread it. Jesse tells James to fan to, and James does it, a little.

The scent comes across Elekid and Larvitar and Elekid gets attraced to it. Larvitar isn't but tries to stop Elekid from going. The scent also affects Meganium and Pikachu, them leading the gang to the Rockets. The Rockets see Elekid and Larvitar, but also notice that the gang is making their way. But Elekid and Larvitar fall right in a pitfall! The scent stops and the Pokemon snap out of it. The gang tries to rush to them but they fall in a pitfall too. The Rockets run off with their catch but the gang isn't going to give up.

Meganium uses a Vine Whip on the branch to lift everyone out of the hole. Jesse sends out Arbok while James is stuck using Weepinbell. Ash sends out Phanpy while Casey lets her Meganium fight this match. Meganium tries to Tackle Arbok, but Arbok easily backs it off with a Poison Sting. Weepinbell tosses some Razor Leaves at Phanpy, but Phanpy blocks it. Soon Phanpy hits the Weepinbell with a Rollout. Weepinbell gets knocked back pretty hard.

But something happens and the Weepinbell starts to evolve! James is just as happy that the Weepinbell became a Victreebel, but it goes and tries to eat Jesse! Jesse tries to get the Victreebel off and eventually does. She tells Arbok to Tackle the Victreebel out of here and Arbok sends the Victreebel flying. (leaving James in tears once more) To end this fray quickly, Casey tells her Meganium to use Solar Beam. Meganium fires a Solar Beam, enough to blow the Rockets into the sky.

As for the salesman, he's having a little trouble with James' Victreebel. Feeling he got cheated, he kicks the Victreebel into the sky. Coincidently the two Victreebels bump into each other in mid air and they get love at first sight. The soon hop off into the fields in love.

Casey soon challenges the Elekid to a long waited match. Casey uses Meganium starts the battle off with a Tackle. The Elekid easily dodges the attack and counters with a Thundershock. Meganium isn't much affect and tries Razor Leaf. But Elekid easily deflects those with a Thunder Punch. Finally Meganium fires a Solar Beam, this time the attack hits and knocks out Elekid in one shot. Casey soon throws a Pokeball at the Elekid, and captures the Pokemon! Larvitar on the other hand seems a little sad that his recent friend got captured, but Casey cheers him up.

Later in the day, Casey says that she still has four more gyms to do before she heads off to the Silver Convention. But she's thankful for Ash helping her find Elekid. As a thanks, she sings the new Electabuzz's fight song for them
