Pokémon GO - New Pokémon Surprise Appearance
After the reveal in the network traffic, when Community Day ended in Asia Pacific, Oceania, many Pokémon turned into the brand new Pokémon shown. However, when captured, it immediately turned into a Ditto and sometimes Chikorita and other Pokémon. At present it's not clear why this is happening but we'll provide updates as and when it comes
Edit @ 07:28: Niantic's head of marketing for Pokémon GO in Japan, Kento Suga, has started tweeting about this, indicating that it is a tease and not a mistake.
Edit @ 07:35: The Pokémon then changed into a Kecleon in spawns and then has now disappeared. At present there is no further information over this unusual turn of events. Our New Pokémon Page has been updated with full details of the Pokémon

Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! & Let's Go, Eevee!
It has been announced that Japanese variety show, Pokénchi will from its episode airing next week on September 30th 2018 have a new segment which will present the latest video game news regarding Pokémon. This segment will then likely continue onwards. This matches a similar segment that aired on the show in the run up to Pokémon Sun & Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, and in its predecessor Pokémon Smash for Pokémon X & Y, which was often a round-up but did sometimes showcased new elements and new footage. As the shows are pre-recorded, the news will be news that has been planned in advance. We'll provide full details on whatever is shown as it comes so be sure to keep checking back

Pokémon GO - Community Day
Today marks the Pokémon GO Community Day. On this day, for three hours in each region, Chikorita will appear, enmass, in Pokémon GO with a chance of Shiny Chikorita appearing. During this event, when you evolve Bayleef into Meganium, it will know the move Frenzy Plant, which is exclusive to this event. This coincides with 3* Capture EXP with captures and Lure Modules running for 3 hours. This runs at these times:
Asia & Oceania: 03:00 UTC - 06:00 UTC (12:00 JST - 15:00 JST)
Europe & Japan: 09:00 UTC - 12:00 UTC (10:00 BST - 13:00 BST / 12:00 CET - 15:00 CET)
North America: 18:00 UTC - 21:00 UTC (11:00 PDT - 14:00 PDT / 14:00 EDT - 17:00 EDT)

Some further information has been revealed about the upcoming Research Breakthrough for completing a week of research in October. The Research Breakthrough Pokémon as of October 1st at 20:00 UTC will be an Suicune, with the tasks being focused around Water-type Pokémon and Pokémon of the Johto Region
