A new aesthetic feature in the third generation is the ribbon-holding concept. Like how your own achievements are recorded on your Trainer Card, your Pokemon can be bestowed special commemorative ribbons in honour of different tasks or challenges they meet in the game. Some of these ribbons are only available in Ruby and Sapphire and some only in other third generation titles. To this day most ribbons can still be seen in the latest versions of Pokemon, so your creatures hard work is never in vain.
