Beautifly

Beautifly, The Butterfly Pokémon. It's favorite food is the sweet pollen of flowers. If you want to see it, just leave a potted flower by an open window and it is sure to come looking for pollen. It has a long mouth like a coiled needle, which is very convenient for collecting pollen from flowers. It rides the spring winds as it flits around gathering pollen. Its colorfully patterned wings are its most prominent feature. It flies through flower-covered fields collecting pollen. It attacks ferociously when angered. Despite its appearance, it has an aggressive nature. It attacks by jabbing with its long, thin mouth.

Battle Moveset

A Good Moveset for Beautifly would have to be this:

Attacks:

Stun Spore
Morning Sun
Psychic / Hidden Power [Flying / Bug] / Silver Wind
Substitute / Whirlwind / Thief

Items Attached:

Leftovers or Nothing

Preferred Nature:

Jolly OR Timid

Strategy Using Beautifly

If you stripped Butterfree of everything good about it you'd be left with Beautifly. The only redeeming quality of this Bug is Stun Spore, giving it at least some use on your team. It's Special Attack isn't too bad but it lacks STAB or a reasonable move pool to back it up, Psychic is the best option out of it and wit ha 4x resistance to Fighting Attacks it can cause some problems for Fighters, provided it doesn't walk straight into a Rock Attack. Your offensive option could also be a STAB choice, Silver Wind is rather chance reliant and with low PP and Beautifly not benefiting that much from the boost anyway it's probably best dropped in favour of Hidden Power. With Morning Sun it can stall for time for what it's worth, it has a handful of resistance to common attacks so it can get some mileage out of it. As your final move, again, filler. Substitute has it's obvious merits, Whirlwind can be used for some PHazing but with such weak defences it'll be hard to pull off. Thief is useful for stealing an opponent's Leftovers, can cause some problems for a Tank.

EV Corner:

EVs: 236 HP / 20 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) / Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

Pretty simple stuff. Max Speed to kick off Paralysis ASAP and then Max HP to have a hope of surviving an attack or two. Alternatively you could max an offensive stat.

Other Optional Moves

Shadow Ball, Aerial Ace, Toxic, Safeguard. Shadow Ball is just a good move, AA is for the Hidden Power phobic. Toxic and Safeguard are the best of the bunch here. Toxic is hurt by the fact that you should have most things Stun Spored, Safeguard is handy but the opportunities to use it tend to be limited.

Strategy Against Beautifly

It's got weak defences, barring moves that are resisted most things will do a large chunk of damage. The main thing to watch out for is it's Stun Spore.

Contest Moveset

A good Contest Moveset for Beautifly would have to be this for the Smart Contest best with Calm, Gentle, Careful, Sassy Nature:

Attacks:

Sleep Powder
Stun Spore
Shadow Ball
Whirlwind

Items Attached:

Green Scarf

Strategy Using Beautifly

If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Sleep powder, 2nd - Stun spore, 3rd - Whirlwind, 4th - Shadow ball, 5th - Sleep Powder Locations in Games

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald

Evolve Silcoon

Animé Appearences

Beautifly has had a fair few Animé Appearences. First May met a co-ordinator that had one. This caused her to want to capture one to use it in her Pokémon Contests which she eventually did and used it many times and thus has many wins under its belt
