Player Health

Much like Pokémon Legends: Arceus, in this game the player character can get damaged by attacks, both from wild Pokémon and even your own if you walk into the area of effect for your own attacks..

When you receive damage, you will start getting a black border around gameplay. When it turns red, you are in a critical state and will black out soon. You have a set amount of health, but that can be increased if you have obtained the Green Canari Plush.

When you're not being targeted down by an opposing Pokémon, you will recover 4.2 Health a second

If you lose all of your health, you will get taken to the last Pokémon Center you visited, or if it's a Rogue Mega Evolution battle, you will have to start again.

Damage

Unlike Legends: Arceus, however, the only way in this game to receive damage is through Pokémon attacks as your Rotom Phone will grab you if you're about to fall from a height. Special effects of moves including burn and poison don't affect you either.

The damage is determined based upon two factors. The first is on the Base Power of the move the Pokémon is using; the higher the base power, the more damage.

Move Base PowerDamage Inflicted
0-2540
25-4940
50-7450
75-9960
100+70

The second factor comes in terms of the total power of a Pokémon factoring in Base Stats and more creating a multiplier from 0.5 up to 1.5

Base Stat TotalDamage Inflicted
0-300*0.5
301-400*0.75
401-5001
501-599*1.25
600+*1.5

In addition to that, Alpha Pokémon will always have a *1.5 Multiplier. The roar of an Alpha Pokémon will also do10 damage as standard.

After you have received damage, you will have a short period where you won't receive any further damage. You will always be knocked down to 1 Hit Point before being knocked out entirely so if a move would knock you out right away, it'll bring you to 1.
