The Kitakami Mask Festival

After you have started your Treasure Hunt, you will receive a call from Jacq who will tell you that you were one of four lucky students selected to participate in a school trip to the far away region of Kitakami. Go to the Academy and he will introduce you to Briar, a teacher from Unova's Blueberry Academy who will be taking you on the trip. She will mention how she has read the Scarlet Book and is looking for the mysterious Pokémon, Terapagos.

When you arrive in the Kitakami, one of the party will feel ill and so Briar requests you head to Mossui Town to let the Caretaker know. When you arrive there, you will encounter two trainers from the Blueberry Academy, who grew up in Kitakami, Carmine and Kieran. Carmine insists an outsider can't be let around the area and decides to battle you

When you defeat her, the Caretaker will rush out and Briar and the students ill enter the town. They will take you to the Center and explain that your task is a self-guided tour of Kitakami.

The task is to split into pairs and take photos with the three signboards telling the story of The Loyal Three and the Ogre. Briar will suggest that people team up with people from the other academies so you go to partner with Kieran, who according to Carmine is enamored with you. Kieran decides to have a battle with you to make sure you're worthy

The first signpost you find is in Loyalty Plaza. When you arrive there, Kieran will follow and tell the story of the Loyal Three and show you the monument. He explains how he went up to the mountains when he was younger to look for the ogre but never found it. He then suggests having a sandwich which causes Koraidon/Miraidon to appear, and is shocked by it, asking if it is a kaiju.

The next signpost is found in Kitakami and there it talks about the various masks of the ogre. Take the photo with Kieran and he suggests going to the Ogre's home in Oni Mountain, the Dreaded Den. Go there and you'll find Kieran and he'll suggest having a battle in the hope that it lures the Ogre out by seeing some powerful battles.

Defeat him and he will mention how it's the Kitakami mask Festival and suggest going that night, to get the next signpost in the following morning

Go to Kieran & Carmine's home in Mossui Town and they'll introduce to their grandparents who give you a Teal Style Card and set you up with a Festival Jenpei. On thoughts that you need a mask, Carmine goes to look for one but can only find two. Kieran suggests giving you his but Carmine says not to as it's his favourite mask. She challenges you to a battle again instead of a mask

Head to the Festival and you will get to partake in all the goings on. Kieran suggests you complete the Ogre Oustin' game. Finish that and you'll get an Exp. Charm. Carmine will be shocked you beat her high score and go to complete it again

However, after she leaves, you will see a mysterious creature with a mask dancing to the muic. Talk to it and Carmine will appear saying Kieran didn't do well with Ogre Oustin', which causes the mysterious creature to be startled and run off. It will get to the top of the stairs where its mask falls off and it runs away. Carmine concludes that it must have been the ogre and asks for you not to tell Kieran as he really likes the Ogre.

The next day, Carmine will appear and suggests showing her grandfather the mask. Kieran appears but Carmine tells him to go away so Kieran runs off. On showing the Teal Mask to her grandfather, her grandfather explains the locals have the myth backwards and that originally when it came to Kitakami with a trainer, it was scared until they put on masks created by the one member of the village who pitied them, where it started to fit in and people enjoyed it. However, one day a group of Pokémon came to the area and tried to steal the masks from the ogre and the trainer. The man saved one of the masks but not the rest. when the ogre return to the cave, it found its home in ruins and the human nowhere to be seen so it put its mask on and went to look for its friend. In the village, it found three Pokémon with the masks and defeated them.

The villagers thought that the three Pokémon were lost in order to protect the village from the ogre and began to worship them. The ogre, weak, returned to its cave and was never seen again.

Carmine is shocked that it's all wrong, and that their ancestors were the mask makers and kept the truth a secret after they were initially dismissed. He suggests fixing the mask. Carmine asks you not to tell Kieran, but Kieran overhears. Find him to go to the sign and he acknowledges that you lied to him.

Going to the final signpost, when you arrive there Kieran explains it's a lonely place where the ogre was once seen but decides to battle you.

After defeating Kieran, he suggests getting the picture over with and talks about how his family were mask creators in the past and that he doesn't believe that the Ogre was a bad character. He then suggests calling it a night.

The next morning, Carmine calls on you and says that her gransfather can't fix the mask just yet as he needs a material from the Crystal Pool. Kieran will appear again and Carmine dismisses him but Kieran claims he has stuff to do. Your task is now to go to Crystal Pool.

When there, you will get attacked by a Milotic. Defeat it together with Carmine and youll get a Crystal Cluster to fix the mask. However soon after Ms. Briar will appear and says she got permission to look at the Crystal Pool as the waters give the same energy as Terastal Energy so she thinks she can use it to stabilise Terastal in other regions than Paldea.

Return to Mossui Town and you will find out that Kieran has stolen the Teal Mask.

Go to Loyalty Plaza and you will find Kieran. He will accuse you of knowing the true story and accuses you treating him like an outcast when you met the ogre, saying you're no different to the villagers and that you were laughing at him behind his back. He challenges you to a battle, saying if you win he'll give you back the mask

Defeat him and he will give you the mask then head home. Carmine apologses but the plaza then explodes in energy and the Loyal Three reappear. They rush off to Kitakami Hall and when there, you learn that the Caretaker gave them the masks.

Go to the Dreaded Den and you will find them attacking Ogerpon. Stop them and defeat Munkidori and they will run off. Kieran and Carmine will appear and you return the Teal Mask to Ogerpon.

Carmine suggests the three of you go find the masks as the Mask Retrieval Squad and suggests you go to Mossui Town to find out clues on where they went from the townsfolk. Find the clues and return to the group and Carmine will deduce where the three were hiding. Kieran decides to go do other things after Ogerpon doesn't give him attention leaving you to go retrieve the masks.

In the Peaceful Barrens, you will find Okidogi in the top left hand corner. Carmine will notice how it has grown bigger compared to before and you work together to battle it, with Titan level boosts

Defeat Okidogi and you will receive the Cornerstone Mask, which you give to Ogerpon

In the lake in Wistful Fields, you will find Munkidori. Once again it will be bigger than previous and you will challenge it with Carmine, battling it with Titan boosts

Defeat Munkidori and you will receive the Wellspring Mask, which you give to Ogerpon

In Oni Mountain, you will find Fezandipiti. After it spots you, it will fly off to another part of the mountain. Find it and you will have to battle it with Carmine where it gets a boost to its Speed.

Defeat Fezandipiti and you will receive the Heartflame Mask, which you give to Ogerpon

After retrieving all the masks, Kieran will appear and say you need to go to Mossui Town with Ogerpon. When there, it turns out he has told the truth to all the villagers and they all apologise to Ogerpon. carmine is impressed and Ogerpon is thrilled. However, it's time to take Ogerpon back hom to the Dreaded Den.

When you go to leave, Ogerpon is shocked andwants to come with you. Kieran doesn't take this well and angrily challenges you to a battle, with the winner deciding who gets to keep Ogerpon.

After defeating Kieran, Ogerpon rushes to check on him but Kieran is mad and starts punching the floor. Kieran agrees to the terms and Ogerpon challenges you. It goes through all four forms, Terastallising with each one showcasing its special Terastal Forms.

Once you defeat all four of its forms, the time comes to catch it. It is a guaranteed capture. Kieran congratulates you but then runs off

The next day, you get woken up by a student who says Carmine wants to see you by Loyalty Plaza. She will mention how Kieran has locked himself in his room since he returned. Carmine explains it's because she lied to him and he doesn't handle losing well. She asks how Ogerpon is doing and asks for you to battle her with it. If you don't have Ogerpon in the game naymore, you can still battle her.

After defeating Carmine, you will get a call from Briar who says that all students have completed their assignments. Carmine apologises for treating you all with suspicion while Briar mentions that she, Carmine and Kieran have to return quickly to the Blueberry Academy, as she and Carmine leave.

In his home, Kieran talks about how he needs to get stronger and stronger, and promises he will before he sees you next.
