Picnics are the return of a similar feature from prior Pokémon games. Here, any time you are in Paldea, you can set up a Picnic to send out your Pokémon, and if friends are playing, their Pokémon too. Here, you can do a variety of things to increase various bonuses for your Pokémon, including increasing its friendship above certain levels, and it is the only way to do so. First, you have the ability to take photos with your Pokémon and alter it with various stickers and filters. |

Sandwich |

Like the previous generation, in Scarlet & Violet you have the ability to make food with your Pokémon, in this case sandwiches using a variety of items you find throughout Paldea. If you then feed it to your Pokémon, it will restore HP but can also have a variety of effects at different strengths based on how good the Sandwich is. These range from increasing Catching Power for specific types, increasing spawns for certain types and more |

Playing |

When they are out in the field, you have the ability to play with your Pokémon by interacting with them. Doing so will cause their bond to grow with you, increasing their friendship with you. Sometimes, if you have two compatible Pokémon out with you, then you may even receive an Egg, this can even work if it's between your friend's Pokémon and yours |

You also have the ability to clean your Pokémon. Doing so will restore their Hit Points as well as give a friendship boost |

Customisation |

You also have the ability to customise your picnic. In various stores across Paldea, you can purchase a variety of items to customise your Picnic area to make it more akin to how you desire. This allows you to customise the cup, bottle, plates and tablecloth of your picnic, as well as the ball that you use to play with your Pokémon In The Teal Mask, when you go to Kitakami you will find a man who will help you customise your chairs by showing him a Tablecloth of each design. |
