Type Compatibility Altering Moves

A new feature included within Pokémon X & Y is the inclusion of moves that themselves contain different type affinities to the usual moves of the type. This adds an extra layer of strategy and can result in some interesting combinations.

The move Freeze-Dry is known by many Ice-types. This move is a special move in that in addition to the usual Ice-type affinity, it will also cause super effective damage on Water-types. As such, if used on a Water/Flying-type, it will end up doing 4 times the normal damage.

Damage Given

Name Type Cat. PP Att. Acc. Effect
Freeze-Dry 20 70 100 The user rapidly cools the target. This may also leave the target frozen. This move is super effective on Water types.

Flying Press

The move Flying Press is known only by the Pokémon Hawlucha. This move, while appearing to be a Fighting-type move, also gives the damage of a Flying-type move at the same time. As such, the type combinations are combined before calculating damage.
